Hello there guys and gals!
Summerkon was an awesome event. Indeed it was busy at the Bayan Knights Table. I'd like to thank everyone who dropped by, said hello and grabbed themselves a copy. It was an awesome experience having me and Myles scramble with the "methodology" of selling each book. Buy a book, sign for the raffle, give freebie, wrap, mark every book sold. LOL, just giving exact change alone was confusing at times. It was great watching the guys do sketches for "fans" and watching them do versions of Darna for probably the biggest Darna fan I've ever seen. I hope to be confident enough to do sketches too in the near future. It was also an honor being on stage with the guys, especially with Sir Gilbert and Sir Heubert, both respected members of the Philippine komiks scene.
I got to read the fourth issue of Bayan Knights a while ago. Initially I thought having it digitally painted in this issue as opposed to the past pencilled-and-inked versions wouldn't work as well but, I thought it looked better after reading it. Credits to Sir Gilbert for another awesome issue. It also contained my 2 pager origin story for my character, Lito and one of my Bayan Knights Elementary comic strips. I hope people like it.
I also got to see the actual pencils Myke did for my Lito 2 pager. It looked waaaay cooler than the scan he sent me to ink. He also gave me some of the Lito sketch cards he made, which I shall treasure (thanks Myke). This got me thinking about future Lito comics. I hope to finish the Lito 8 pager story for a compilation book that Aaron is trying to put out soon (or tried to put out in time for summerkon hehe, sorry kapatid). After that, I plan to write a story for the first Lito book which Myke has gladly agreed to pencil for me, right Myke? hehe
What sucked though was not being able to buy comics for myself. I didn't have enough money considering my plane ticket costed more than what I hoped. I really wanted to get a copy of Macoy's new books, Rhiver's Insomnoir, Unstoppable, Callwork 2, Skyworld (Definitely!) and many others. Oh well, there's always MCC.
